Mum and Dad miss two-try Debut

Canterbury rookie Jamie Feeney had his greatest day in rugby league yesterday. But his two most loyal fans were missing.
Feeney, a second rower scored two tries in his first grade debut during Canterbury's 28-24 win over Auckland at Stadium Australia, Homebush, yesterday. One try came with his first touch of the ball.
Feeney's parents attend every Bulldogs match but missed the most important one yesterday. Feeney found out on thursday he had been chosen to Canterbury in first grade. But it was too late - his parents had already left on a cruise and were absent from yesterday's match
"They planned the cruise a while back and couldn't get out of it" said Feeney "Hopefully they will see the match somewhere on television"
Canterbury coach Steve Folkes praised the effort of Feeney "He is a very enthusiastic young kid" said Folkes. "Jamie has a fantastic attitude and some real ability"
They player could not believe scoring with his first touch of the ball. "I just came on" he said. "Troy Stone told me to stand outside him and straight away I had scored. I couldn't have wished for a better start"
Feeney - who is off contract at the end of this season - is from Muswellbrook, near Newcastle.
